"Life In Shadow

Challenging myself to evolve as an artist is a core attribute of my personality. I am passionate about methodically working to become a more focused improviser and composer. A desire burns within me to be able to precisely capture the nuance of my musical expression. In my most recent composition “Life in Shadow”, I challenged myself to think differently and create music unlike any of my previous work. I wanted to further expand my own musical language by exploring new territory in both my sound and creative process. The crux of this composition is in its modular method of developing themes. The larger musical theme subdivided into smaller parts called modules continually shifts through variations of rhythmic and harmonic displacement. My goal in this concept was to create momentum that doesn’t explicitly state a traditional pulse yet is still very grounded in its pocket. Despite the well-known hardships of the past year, it has been an incredibly productive time to expand my creative and technical proficiency. I am more invigorated and optimistic than ever to create and share music in accordance with who I am.
