“Pan”
This piece was composed in the relatively early period of the pandemic... the idea of it being a marathon was not fully realized in the public consciousness and as such, there was a lot of disassembly taking place - perceived as a ‘novelty’ or ‘nuisance’ for those with options, and shocking, unthinkable tragedy for others. Resistance to the interruption was high, and a loftier sense of acceptance, of opportunity - if one can get to that perspective - even in the midst of escalating tragedy, would have been considered a tremendously scarce or even cynical perspective. “PAN” references the pandemic, the ancient nature god, trans-global, pan-tonality, and/or pandemonium... “PAN” is a moody, semi-meditative piece, that transits through momentary tonalities and sonic revelations uniquely expressed by acoustic string instruments - in this case, my duo, For Loving Lovers, with acoustic bass guitarist Stomu Takeishi.
